Practices·Awareness

Awareness is the most foundational lever of all — because at the root of the problem diagnosed in the philosophy is unconsciousness. Not evil, not weakness, but simply not seeing. And awareness, in its depth, is the solution. Most suffering persists because we are entangled in our thoughts, emotions, and impulses. When awareness strengthens, identification loosens. Thoughts are seen as thoughts.

Emotions are felt without becoming identity. Sensations arise and pass. Energy that was locked in unconscious reaction becomes available for transformation. The guiding principle is precise: where attention goes, life force flows. Awareness is a spectrum. Focused Awareness — the Laser — concentrates attention on a single point with intensity.

Open Awareness — the Lantern — expands the field to hold all experience without grasping. Pure Awareness — the Light Source — drops all objects entirely and rests as consciousness itself, beyond time, space, and form. The entire inner journey moves along this arc.

Whatever awareness is brought to, it transforms. Bring it to the body, and the body becomes something you inhabit consciously — how you breathe, how you move, how you speak. Unconscious habits surface and can be released. Bring it to the mind, and the mental machinery becomes visible — thought processes, self-image, the entire psychological structure that was previously running unnoticed.

Bring it to the emotions, and they begin to dissolve in the simple light of attention — what was suppressed, accumulated, or hardened transforms when met with total, non-judgmental presence. Bring it to the energy body, and the channels open — tension held unconsciously for years releases, and the life force flows freely through what had been closed.

Bring it to the breath and the senses, and you are grounded in the present moment — the only place where anything is actually alive. And then, at the depth of the practice, something turns. Awareness is directed back upon itself. Instead of being absorbed in its objects, it recognises itself — the awareness that has been witnessing everything all along.

In that moment of recognition, you realise you are not merely the objects of awareness; you are awareness itself. Timeless, formless, limitless, non-dual. This is the fruit of the practices that follow: not a state to be achieved but a natural resting — totally conscious, totally present, in tune with life without resistance. At this depth, spiritual practice is no longer about doing. It is simply being.

Awareness resting in its own luminous nature, at home in the eternal Now.

01

Breath Awareness

The foundational practice of inner observation — and one of the oldest in recorded human history. Simply watching the breath without trying to change it. The entry point that requires no belief, no background, and no special conditions.

02

Inner Gaze

Shambhavi Mudra

Directing the mental gaze upward and inward — to the space between the eyebrows — creating a single, neutral anchor point that draws the life force upward and inward. A powerful practice for mental clarity and stillness, especially when the mind is chattering and wandering. Don’t fight the thoughts; do this instead.

03

Body Scan

Moving awareness slowly through the body, from feet to head, turning unconscious tension into conscious relaxation. One of the simplest and most effective ways to get out of the thinking mind and back into the body.

04

Non-Sleep Deep Rest (NSDR)

A practice of guided rest rooted in the ancient tradition of Yoga Nidra. The body becomes profoundly still — as if asleep — while the mind remains clear and quietly aware. A powerful way to recharge the energy body and calm the nervous system at any time of day.

05

Energy Body Awareness

Holding awareness on the entire energy body as a unified whole — the most powerful practice for direct inner transformation. Where other practices work on the energy body indirectly, this one places awareness on it directly. The effect is immediate and far- reaching.

06

Holistic Subtle Bodies Awareness

Shining the light of awareness on the entire layers of being at once — physical, emotional, mental, and energetic simultaneously. More holistic and grounding than Energy Body Awareness alone, and more stabilising. It is the most powerful practice for inner transformation in this lever — and also the most demanding. It requires considerable awareness and skill as a prerequisite; the practices that precede it here are not merely preparation but the foundation that makes this one possible.

07

Compassionate Presence

The simple act of being with whatever is arising in you, without judgment or avoidance. Unresolved experiences seek resolution — and that resolution is offered by total, non-judgmental presence.

08

Deep Listening Meditation

A meditation on sound and silence. By listening fully without grasping, awareness dissolves into the silence that holds all sound.

09

Pure Observation

watching the mind

The solution to compulsive thinking is not suppression — it is consciousness. The key to freedom is realising you are not your thoughts.

10

Disidentifying

the via negativa (Neti-Neti)

Finding the truth by discarding what is false. Rather than searching for consciousness, you eliminate everything that consciousness is not — until only consciousness remains.

11

Self-Inquiry

Who am I?

To become free from constant fear, worry, and desire by bringing awareness into the very nature of the self — and enquiring, with complete sincerity: “Who am I?”

12

Ultimate Self-Inquiry

dissolving the illusory self

Meditating on the nature of death, on what existed before birth, and on the ending of time — to cut through the illusion of the separate self at its deepest root and realise pure consciousness.

13

Non-Doing

Dropping all sense of doing and simply being. Resting in a dimension of experience where the mind is not shaping reality — moving from compulsive thought and emotion to a state of pure emptiness, or zero.

14

Aware of Awareness

turning attention upon itself

Shifting attention away from the objects of experience — thoughts, feelings, perceptions — and directing it toward the knowing presence itself. The state of pure consciousness. The simple recognition of your own being.

15

The Shunya

being nothing

The practice of being absolutely nothing inwardly. Not as a state created or captured — but as something realized. The discovery that in true nothingness, the very essence of life itself is found.
