the panic switch
Written by Desmond Olubunmi · Founder of Sunya
The fastest way to stop panic in real time.
A double inhale reopens the tiny collapsed air sacs deep in the lungs, and the long, complete exhale offloads carbon dioxide and triggers the body’s relaxation brake. It can pull the system out of acute panic in a single round — faster than almost anything else.
Inhale deeply through the nose.
At the top, take a second, short, sharp inhale through the nose, filling the lungs completely.
Exhale slowly and fully through the mouth, with a soft sighing sound.
Repeat just 3 times.
Occasional writing on the levers, the practices, and how to actually work with them.
